Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Friday discussed “circumstances and developments in the regional and international arenas as well as the horizons of bilateral relations and ways of consolidating them in all spheres in the interest of their brotherly countries and peoples,” according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
The talks in Rawdat Khoraym followed a lunch hosted there by the monarch in honor of the visiting Turkish premier shortly after his arrival in Riyadh.
Rawdat Khoraym, or Khoraym Gardens, is a wild life park and oasis that blooms in the middle of the desert in springtime.
Situated some 100 kilometers northeast of Riyadh, Rawdat Khoraym is the King’s spring retreat. Erdogan flew there from Riyadh by helicopter.
In an early Friday interview with the Turkish daily Today’s Zaman, Mesut Hakki Caşin, an international relations analyst and vice chairman of the Strategic Research and Application Center at the Istanbul-based Yeditepe University, said Syria tops the agenda of Erdogan’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
